Are the new Xeon 6 AI CPUs (6774P specifically) vaporware?

I have had the Xeon 6774P on backorder for almost three months now.   The chip was announced back in May, and I placed one on back order with a retailer at the end of June.   The CPUs specifications line up perfectly for my application.

The back order had no ETA at the time (just 4-6 weeks expected), which I can understand in the first month after a new product announcement.

A month later at the end of July, I checked back and apparently the suppliers still had no update on an ETA.   This was odd, as after a couple of months I would at least expect an ETA to have been hammered out.

Around the same time I reached out to Supermico as to whether their X14 Motherboard would be fully functional with this CPU as it has more PCI lanes.   The response I got from Supermicro was that they were hopeful based on specifications, but had not been unable to test with this CPU yet.   This made me more concerned, as I would expect a board manufacturer to have their hands on an engineering sample for testing by now.

At the end of last month, now 2 months later, I reached out to my vendor, who reached out the the supply chain.   This is where things get odd.   My vendor has not stated that there is no ETA, but apparently is not getting a response from their suppliers as they keep telling me they are reaching out and will get back to me as soon as they hear back.

Starting to feel like this chip is vaporware, as I can't find anyone anywhere indicating they have seen one or expect to see one in the near future.   So can anyone confirm they have actually seen this CPU in the real world, or have any knowledge of an actual ETA where they expect to see one?

Thanks,

Doug

Ok, but my question is to the broader public.  Anyone laying hands on these?

All the direct distributors in the link provided showed no availability, so my concerns still stand.

I pinged Supermicro again, and no answer so far (been a couple of days).   They usually respond in under 24 hours, so that is concerning.

Thanks,

Doug
