Does the Q8300 support Virtualization Technology

Yes the Q8300 supports VT. When you say you can't get it to work, what exactly are you trying to do to make it work?

I don't think the q8300 supports VT.

If you look at the chart Intel VT is not available on 2 CPU's: Q8200 and Q8300.

Or am I missing something?

I am none too happy with Intel as I just purchased a Q8200 after reading intels website whcih said all Quad core processors support VT??

Very dissapointing that Intel can't provide accurate tech specs for their products

Dissapointment asside (there is always ebay for unwanted parts) I would like to know for sure that my Intel DG45ID motherboard will support VT before I upgrade the processor? I can't see any virtualisation settings in the BIOS but since my Q8200 doesn't have VT I'm really not sure?

Fine, but I'm stuck with my Q8300 now

I filled it their survey and asked to replace my processor, as I bought this processor after I checked on their website, to use with Intel VT.

Let's wait and see how service-minded Intel is.

Q8300 (SLB5W) when launched never supported Intel(R) Virtualization Technology.(VT)

The SLGUR which was recently released does support VT.

You will need a processor that supports VT in additional to the chipset and BIOS.

I am afraid the only option you have is to replace the cpu... i certainly cant be flashed like a bios.

Im having the same problem... I actually couldnt belive that my old Core 2 Duo supported it and year newer quad wouldnt and I certainly woundt have bought it if I knew...

My Q8300 in a DELL Inspiron 545 (bought in Dec. 2009) does support VT-x.
