Intel EMA Hardware Manageability Not working

Hi

I have been trying to perform OOB operations on my test device for a month now. I can access all the tabs apart from the "Hardware Manageability" tab. When I go there it always shows "Intel AMT not accessible".

Details:

I have provisioned in ACM mode. I am using my personal mobile hotspot to test it out. I have select CIRA but it always shows CIRA not connected. Intel EMA version is 1.14.3.0

The client device has my personal root CA hash stored in it. MEBx PKI DNS Suffix is set to my domain suffix. Network access shows "Network Inactive". The EMA agent files are also in the client device.

I have retried the process two three times with proper AMT profiles and Endpoint Group settings. I am still not able to access Hardware Manageability tab

Thank you for your assistance!

Hello Sid_M,

Thank you for the details.

We understand you're trying to configure Out-of-Band (OOB) operation on a test device and are facing issues accessing the Hardware Manageability tab.

To assist you further, please share the following:

  • Operating System version of the server
  • SQL Server version
  • Location of the EMA server (physical or virtual)
  • Location of the SQL server (physical or virtual)
  • Will both servers be hosted on the same machine?
  • Authentication mode used: Local, Azure AD, or Windows AD
  • Number of endpoints to be provisioned
  • Location of endpoints: local or remote
  • Are you using any VPN when connection to EMA server

Also, kindly share the screenshots and ECT logs for us to analyze and assist you further.

  • Screenshot of the General tab from the EMA console
  • Certificate details and a screenshot of the certificate from the Settings tab in the EMA console (since the device is provisioned in ACM mode).
  • ECT logs from the test device (endpoint).

Intel® EMA Configuration Tool (ECT) Logs:

  1. Download the tool from the following link: Intel® EMA Configuration Tool
  2. Installation:
    • Download and unzip the tool.
    • Double-click the .msi file and follow the installation prompts.
  1. Run the Tool:
  2. a. Open a command prompt as an administrator (or use Windows PowerShell*).
  3. b. Navigate to the installation folder (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\EMAConfigTool).
  4. c. Run the following command:
  5. EMAConfigTool.exe --verbose

Looking forward to your response.

Hi Suneesh,

following are the details:

1) I have a domain controller VM and an EMA server VM (EMA server -> windows 10 pro (22H2) ; DC VM -> Windows Server 2019 standard (version 1809))

2)Both virtual machines are locally hosted on the same laptop using VMWare workstation.

3) Authentication mode is windows AD

4) just testing out one endpoint for now. Endpoint is physically present with me

5) No VPN is used while connecting to EMA server

Currently I retried the provisioning process hence it says not provisioned. But Before it was saying "Active Control Mode" with an orange question mark beside it saying I am using an external agent on the device, when infact i have used only EMA agent and msh file.
Due to privacy issues, I cannot share the names, but both certificates are within expiry and the leaf and root cert both are present.

If you still require the logs let me know

Hello Sid_M,

Thank you for the details.

Kindly ensure that you follow the Intel® Endpoint Management Assistant (Intel® EMA) – Server Installation and Maintenance Guide prerequisites.

From the details shared we see that you have installed windows 10 pro on EMA server and as per the Installation Prerequisites we strongly recommend installing the EMA server with-

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2022

Also, when installing the EMA server on a VM or physical server it should meet the following hardware requirements:

  • 2 Intel® Xeon® Processors
  • 16 Threads
  • 24 GB RAM
  • 1 TB Mirrored Storage

For more details, please refer to Section 1.2 – Supported operating system (Page 11) and Section 1.3 – Installation Prerequisites (Page 11) in the guide available at the link below:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000055629/software/manageability-products.html

If the ECT tool gives an error during a log collection kindly execute the rpc-go as it is AMT version 20.

The software would be rpc-go v2.47.3

https://github.com/device-management-toolkit/rpc-go/releases/tag/v2.47.3

You may have to download the Windows x64 RPC Executable.

Open a command line or PowerShell window with Administrator rights.

Go to the location of the software

Type: .\rpc_windows_x64.exe amtinfo

With that, we shall send out an email for the logs and other certificate details that needs to be verified so that you can revert to the email with the requested details considering security concerns.
