Intel SCS integration and SCCM 1511

Hello everyone,

I am working with SCCM 2012 R2 (Current branch version 1511) and I manage about 100 000 computers.

I am interested with the AMT Technolgy which can permit us to power on computers or manage other system settings

As you know in SCCM 1511, the "Out Of Band Management" and the "Enrollment Point" have been revemoved (depreciated) from the product.

We still can install the Intel SCS for SCCM add-on which add collections, task sequences and packages but how can I "manage" computers after intel AMT is configured ?

The Out of Band menu is no present anymore.

Does anyone have already integrate this feature on his hierarchy ? Is still effective with 1511 version ?

Any help regarding this topic is welcome !

Jérémie,

Intel® SCS Add-on for Microsoft* System Center Configuration Manager role is to help to integrate Intel AMT activation and configuration with MS SCCM.

It is not meant/designed to actually manage configured systems as in SCCM 2012 AMT management was supported natively by Out Of Band Management Point Role.

With SCCM 1511 Intel AMT management is not supported by SCCM itself - see http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/software/000021063.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/software/000021063.html

You still may use Intel® SCS Add-on for Microsoft* System Center Configuration Manager 2.1.7 from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25823 Download Intel® SCS Add-on for Microsoft* System Center Configuration Manager with SCCM 1511.

You will have to activate Intel AMT anyway - MS SCCM 1511 will not do it for you at all.

The tool for this is Intel® Setup and Configuration Software (Intel® SCS) 11.0 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25616 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25616

for Intel AMT management you may use:

Good luck.

Hello Dariusz,

Thank you very much for your quick answer !

Ok so, the only way to manage computers with SCCM 1511 are

  • the v-Pro addon which add right click actions ? (reboot, kvm... )
  • Ithe ntel v-Pro solution manager (the same thing but not integrate to SCCM ?)

I tried to install the right click add-on on SCCM but when I select a random computer, I don't see the new option 'Intel v-pro'.

I suppose it's because the computer targeted has not the AMT discovered and configured ?

Best regards

Jérémie

Hello Dariusz,

thanks for your sharing.

but, when I tried to install the right click add-on on SCCM 2012 R2, and I selected a externally provisioned computer, could not see the new option 'Intel v-pro'.

Any suggestions?

Go into a collection then do the samething. By default, the Intel V-Pro is only available into a computer collection, not in all devices. You have the copy the intel scs file in the program files folder of all devices for that. For my installation, I had to copy the file "Intelvproext.xml" from

Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\XmlStorage\Extensions\Actions\3fd01cd1-9e01-461e-92cd-94866b8d1f39

to
