SCCM OOB - Intel AMT Error: Invoke(invoke) failed: 80020009argNum = 0

Hello folks!

I have configured and installed SCCM 2012 Out of Band Management (OOB).

During provisioning of the Client I get below error message in the "amtopmgr.log"

==============================Qoute - amtopmgr.log====================

==============================UnQoute - amtopmgr.log====================

I am able to perform "PowerOn, PowerOff" via the "Out of band Manager Console".

I am able to Access the Intel AMT Web Gui at https://fqdn:16993/ https://fqdn:16993

If I try to Access SOL Console, I only see an black screen with an blinking cursor..

Does anyone have an hint for me to resolve this?

Thanks

Best Regards

Anders Horgen

Hi Anders,

Is it possible to provide your OOBConsole.log located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminUI\AdminUILog\? This will help with debugging this problem.

Thanks.

Hello Alan

Yes sure I also get the same error when SCCM OOB tries to provisioning 802.1x for WiFi.

Anders,

I have a couple of questions.

1. Can you give me a little detail on your environmental structure (CA/subCA/RADIUS/etc)?

2. Do you know if IDE-R is disabled in the MEBx?

Hello Alan,

1.

1 SCCM Primary 2012 SP1 site (no CU's) with 1 dedicated Site System for "OOB & EnrollmentPoint".

Internal Issuing CA running on Windows Server 2008 R2. 802.x1 uses RADIUS togheter with Windows Server 2008 R2 NPS. The Site System (OOB & EP) has Access on the issuing CA and Certificates templates to deploy the required certificates. ref: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/230dfec0-bddb-4429-a5db-30020e881f1e# BKMK_AMT2008_cm2012 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/230dfec0-bddb-4429-a5db-30020e881f1e# BKMK_AMT2008_cm2012

2.

IDE-R is enabled

I would suggest inspecting your Radius server logs for errors. This will help isolate why out of band authentication is failing.

Hi Alan!

When I provisioning the Intel AMT Client, I am doing that over an wire that do not require 802.1x authentication,

hence therefore I shouldn't need to review those logs Also the SOL Connection is currently only tested on non 802.1x authentication:

==============================QOUTE==================

==============================UNQOUTE==================

I was yesterday able to Access the SOL via BIOS. Hence, I had to press "ESC" key inside the OOB Conosle,

and then I was able to see the Remote monitor. This workaround doesn not work in PXE or when the machine is running at the OS Level.. So there might be an bug going on somewhere..

So just to be clear, were you able to manipulate the BIOS through your SOL connection while out of band? If that's the case then as far as redirection is concerned it sounds like it's configured and working properly.

Notes about SOL:

  • SOL will not work during a PXE boot, this is a known limitation.
  • SOL is a text based technology, as such nothing will be displayed while inside the OS.

Here is a great write up on SOL: http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/using-intel-amt-serial-over-lan-to-the-fullest Using Intel® AMT serial-over-LAN to the fullest | Intel® Developer Zone
