how to do bare-metal AMT activation?

We are buying some iot devices that come with an Intel processor with AMT v12.0.72. The devices are delivered with no OS installed and we would like to make the AMT activation and OS installation remotely with the AMT.

  • We have the DNS option 15 set up.
  • We have  a domain name and a configuration certificate ready.
  • We were able to activate the AMT using the certificate with an agent installed in the devices. But since we would like to activate the AMT and then use it to install the OS, this not an option for production.

Is this possible to do? Does any of the available tools provide this feature? I've seen that MeshCentral does it but only on AMT v14 and above (link to article). Not sure if it's a MeshCentral or AMT limitation.

Thanks!

Gaston

Hello gomeghi,

Thank you for joining the community.

Usually, you will need to have the OS already in place in order to be able to install the EMAagent.exe file (in charge of provisioning the system)

Looking at the article refers to an old Intel Setup and Configuration Software (SCS) feature that is now being added to MeshCentral. Intel SCS is deprecated now and has been replaced by EMA. This feature is not part of EMA though. There is a feature called "one-click recovery" but it is for a different purpose
