why processors have a 4GHz limit?

Hi everyone,

I'm researching the technical reasons behind the 4GHz limit in Intel processors. So far I have read about thermal and power issues associated with reaching that specific frequency but I would like to hear another points of view. Does anyone have any technical documents or links about it?

Any help in this matter will be highly appreciated.
