Here is question and answer 8 in the FAQ( http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-media-software-development-kit-intel-media-sdk )

Q8: What is the pricing for the Intel Media SDK?

A8: The Intel Media SDK is available as a free download at intel.com/software/mediasdk and also includes free licensing and source for integration with Open Source projects

This seems to indicate that it is free for Open Source projects only...  I'm assuming it's at least possibble to purchase it for commerical projects?  How can I find that price?

Thank you!

Hi Matthew,

The open source quote refers to the Media SDK dispatcher component source code which is part of the SDK package. The rest of the SDK is not open source.

Intel Media SDK (incl. the open source component) can be used for free (Windows) in commercial products or open source products. The SDK is currently used in 100+ commercial and open source products.

Please keep in mind that any potential costs for codec licenses are the responsibility of the application developer, just as is the case when developing products using other media codec packages, not provided by Intel.

Note that the Linux version of Media SDK is a commercial product (more info on the Intel Media SDK web page).

Regards,
Petter
