Hello,
I have reviewed the comparison table in
https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-media-server-studio/try-buy
But I am not sure, it shows
"HEVC Decoder & Encoder, GPU Assist API" only in professional edition.
Does the other pckages capable of encode/decode MPEG-2 and H.264 , and not capable only with H.265 (HEVC) ?
Regards,
Ran

Hi Ran - HEVC has 3 implementations: SW, GPU-accelerated and HW implementation. The HEVC package in the Pro edition contains plugins for the SW and GPU-accelerated implementations. While the HW implementation is part of the underlying platform itself (it is supported from SKL onwards) and comes with the driver (its free basically).
So, until BDW - Only SW and GPU-accelerated implementations of HEVC were supported.
From SKL onwards, all three are supported, with the HW implementation being part of the driver itself.
H264 and MPEG2 implementations are HW and are available from 3rd Gen core processors.
Hope this helps.
