I would like to ask if you are going to change the way that hardware transcoding works right now.
From QuickSync version 1 (inside SandyBridge) till now, the transcoding process uses a lot of hardware resources of the iGPU (EUs) - besides ASIC - and we could say that it's not a pure hardware (ASIC only) implementation.
On the other hand, Nvidia and AMD use ASIC only transcoding.
For example NVenc from Nvidia and VCE from AMD, use only the ASIC inside the GPUs and very few GPU resources -> GPU load < 5%
Is it in your plans to change that ?

Hi,
We always try to compete with the market and be on par to provide better solutions to customers. Please keep an eye out at intel.com for any releases and updates.
Thanks,
Hi Nikos,
We do have a plan for ASIC only transcoding. Currently we support ASIC only decoding so, we are planning to support ASIC only encoding in our future releases. However for supporting ASIC only encoder, there might be quite some feature which will not be supported for ASIC only encoder since due to there dependence on EU's. Also, the support would vary according to codec.
Like Harsh mentioned for updates you can check Intel website for future releases.
Hope that helps!
