On Ubuntu 14.04 missing /dev/dri (i7-6700K)

I followed all instructions in "getting started guide". Compilation of kernel 3.14.5 with all patches was successful (initial kernel 3.19.0-28-generic).
But after reboot, I don't see any devices in /dev/dri (directory is empty).

I see, the driver i915 is not loaded after startup.

My goal is video encoding (with hevc_qsv) via ffmpeg. Is my Skylike CPU supported?

Hi There,

Your CPU  i7-6700K is 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Processors, Media Server Studio has not release SKL support yet, so there are no kernel patches publicly available to apply and use quick sync video.

And do you have estimate for release new version of Intel Media Server with support for 6th i7?
I see release 2016 but it is only for Windows. Thank you.

If you are looking to develop windows based application, then there is Media SDK 2016 available out today which supports 6th generation i.e. Skylake. If your application is based on Linux OS then you will have to wait for Media Server Studio release supporting Skylake
