Hello
I'm using an NUC 13 board embarking an Intel core 3 13th generation processor.
This processor features a thermal protection that let it throttle its performances when the internal temperature reach the Tjmax value (100°C).
Does anybody knows the failure rate of this protection device? in other terms, what is the probability that this protection fails and that nothing prevent from a thermal "runaway" of the processor?
thank you

Hi, Jacques1.
Thank you for posting in our Community with your question regarding the thermal protection reliability of the Intel® Core™ i3 13th Gen processor used in your NUC 13 system. Intel processors are designed with multiple layers of thermal protection to ensure safe operation under a variety of workloads and environmental conditions. The thermal protection mechanisms, including dynamic frequency throttling (Thermal Throttling) and automatic shutdown at Tjmax (100°C for most 13th Gen Core i3 models), are built directly into the silicon and firmware.
However, I would like to gently inform you that as of January 16, 2024, the Technical and Warranty Support for Intel's NUC 7 through NUC 13 Systems is now managed by ASUS. For any assistance regarding software, firmware, BIOS support, and security advisories, please visit the ASUS website at ASUS Support. While I realize this may not be the response you were anticipating, engaging with ASUS technical support will ensure you receive the most specialized assistance.
