Hi,  I recently bought a intel core i7 8700K brand new and made a clean install of windows 10 22H2 Pro. I have installed all the drivers the computer needs and then I tried installing intel XTU so I can overclock my CPU. When I go to the website and try to download the 10.0.1.18 version the installer says "Attempted to install on unsupported plataform", then I try to install the 7.14.2.14 version  and it installs just fine. I restarted the computer to complete the installation and then I tried to run thee  intel XTU .exe. It shows up the splashscreen and keep getting stuck on it, the  program dont start but doesn't show any errors too. I  want to overclock my cpu a little bit because the Mhz its fixed on 4.3 and I wanted  to get at least the full Mhz the turbo boost can go wich is 4.7.
Is there any fix for the intel XTU being stuck on the splash screen or at least is there any other way that I can achieve the  4.7mhz?

Hello Bhrain,

Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) has specific versions that support different Intel® processors. The following details outline the compatibility:

  • Version 7.14.2.14: Supports unlocked Intel® Core™ processors (14th generation) and older processors.
  • Version 10.0 or newer: Supports unlocked Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors (Series 2).

To ensure compatibility, it is important to install the appropriate version of Intel® XTU based on your processor type. Additionally, issues with older versions (7.5.1.3 and 7.5.2.3) not working with the Core i7-6850K have been resolved in newer versions (e.g., XTU 7.6.x.x). For the latest version, visit the Intel Download Center.

Please note, Core Isolation Memory Integrity, Hyper-V, and Virtual Machine State are incompatible with Intel® XTU. Intel® XTU is unable to function when these features are enabled. Always remove old versions of Intel® XTU and delete all Intel® XTU folders before upgrading to the latest Intel® XTU version. Make sure the OS version is supported by the latest Intel® XTU.

If the above information has been confirmed and checked, please try to uninstall and reinstall the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) as the next step.

Please let me know if these steps work for you.

Hi Randy,
My CPU is the i7 8700K and I already have the Hyper-V, Core Isolation Memory Integrity and Virtual Machine State disabled. I also already have tried the latest version of intel XTU but didn't work. It installs but keep getting stuck in the splashscreen when I try to open it.  I also uninstalled it completely and try installing it again but still  doesn't work. Is there something I can send to you to better help me with this?

Thanks

Hello Bhrain,

If Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) is getting stuck on the splash screen when you try to open it, it may be due to another performance tuning application running in the background. The error message typically indicates that you need to close any other performance tuning applications before starting Intel® XTU.

To resolve this issue, consider the following steps:

  • Reboot your system and attempt to open Intel® XTU again.
  • Ensure that no other performance tuning applications are active.
  • If the problem persists, uninstall Intel® XTU and then reinstall the latest version from the official Intel website. / note: partially done kindly try and double check.
  • Check that your BIOS is up to date contact your motherboard manufacturer for additional assistance, as this can affect the performance of Intel® XTU.
  • Admin permission required for this step: manually delete the c:\program files\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility directory. Be very careful not to delete any other program folders by default.
  • As a last resort, updating Windows or performing a fresh installation may help. Kindly back up your important files before doing this to avoid data loss.

This error can occur for a couple of reasons:

  • Sometimes Intel® XTU service or driver might be not transferred correctly when upgrading the operating system from Windows® 10 to Windows 11*. This can cause Intel® XTU not to launch or start.
  • When the user has tried to install the Intel® XTU on top of an existing installer without properly uninstalling the previous one. Note that some OEM systems could have Intel® XTU pre-installed.

Additional Information: Please note that if the system/unit was overclocked, including voltage/frequency beyond the processor supported specifications, your processor voids warranty.

Best regards,
