LAPAC71H won't charge more than 65%

Hello my Intel NUC 15 LAPAC71H has an issue and I can't do anything. That's actually the laptop that one of our user uses. He just told me that he got an issue with the battery, it can only charge to 65%. It's been 6 months that he got the laptop but he just told me about it today and he always had the issue since he received his laptop on his first work day. I didn't noticed that there was this issue when I prepared the laptop.

I know that there is a settings in Intel NUC Software Studio that makes the laptop charging to max 65% (screenshot from my laptop LAPRC510) : https://imgur.com/a/I97Jqva

But the problem is that I am not able to open the Intel NUC Software Studio or Intel NUC Software Studio for laptop on the LAPAC71H... I got this error message "device not supported". I tried everything, modify battery settings in windows, update bios, update all drivers given by Intel with the latest LAPAC71H drivers pack, checked in the BIOS if I can change this settings, nothing worked.

Do any of you guys ever experienced this? It's really annoying, thanks

Hi @BeyondRAM,

Thank you for reaching out to our community. According to the article "Why Doesn't the Intel® NUC Laptop Kits Battery Charge to 100%?," if the Battery Health Optimizer in Intel® NUC Software Studio is set below 100%, the battery will not charge fully. To resolve this, select "Charge to 100%" to ensure the battery charges completely. I understand that you have already tried these steps but encountered the error message "device not supported." After checking the download center, it seems your device is not listed among the supported units.

To further investigate the issue, please provide the following information:

  • Where did you download the studio?
  • What is the version of your studio?
  • Was the application working fine before?
  • Have you tried reinstalling the application and attempting to configure the Battery Health Optimizer again?

Please try installing the software again from the provided link and follow the article I posted earlier. If the issue persists, I will coordinate internally to see if we can still run this software on your system.

Let me know if this works.

Note: Intel® NUC Software Studio Service for Intel® NUC Products, version 1.17.38.0, will not be supported with any additional functional, security, or other updates. All versions are provided as is. Intel recommends that users of Intel® NUC Software Studio Service for Intel® NUC Products uninstall and discontinue use as soon as possible. Additionally, NUC Software Studio has reached End of Life (EOL)status and will no longer receive developmental resources.

I downloaded it from the microsoft store, so the latest version, I tried to uninstall it and re install it but didn't changed anything. I tried two apps,  Intel® NUC Software Studio and  Intel® NUC Software Studio for laptop, both are displaying the same error "device not supported"

Hi @BeyondRAM,

Let me investigate further on our end, as the error message suggests that the Intel® NUC Software Studio and Intel® NUC Software Studio for laptops can no longer be used. I will coordinate to see if there is an alternative solution available. I will report back to you once I have an update.

Hello, thank you, it worked perfectly, just installed the software with the .exe file (NUC-Software-Studio-for-Gaming-Laptops_1.0.26.4648.exe) and it's working fine, I can open the software and change the battery mode.

Would you please send me a copy of this software.  I have 2 of the LAPAC71H machines.  I set one of them up a year ago and do not have issues with it.  The other one I started the setup for my wife and then got sidetracked and she was not in a hurry.

I cannot get it to charge beyond 65% and the software studio available for download from MS Store does not support this product.
