CPU temps never really go above 55C at idle but that’s where most of my issues occur, when I am doing little to nothing but watching a video and talking in discord. My entire PC starts “hitching” and stuttering and the only solution is to restart the entire system, sometimes multiple times in a row. This originally started on windows 10 about a month or two after installing, but I did a fresh install on windows 11 with a new cpu cooler and the issues continued. Running on the gigabyte Aorus elite AX Ice motherboard with the latest BIOS and firmware and a gigabyte Rtx 3070.

Did you test stability using OCCT, XTU or similar app?
Are you talking about BSOD type of crashes?
Anything interesting showing in Event Viewer?
Did you check your SSD SMART status?
Did you install HWinfo to monitor your system? If so, is throttling ever logged?
I have noticed that there is some kind of bug in Windows 11 when using both Nvidia and Intel iGPU at the same time. The lagging can get extreme from that.
I would also recommend disabling core parking if low latency is important.

I’ve tested both of my SSD’s (Samsung 990 pro 1tb and 980 2TB) and both appear fully functional and healthy under Samsung’s SMART drive utility.
I monitor using HWinfo and no throttling is detected, but the clock speeds appear very sporadic and tend to jump randomly with little to no load which seems to be causing the “hitching” when swapping from background tasks.

Did you update the Samsung firmware before any degradation? What are the SSD temps?

Thank you, I have looked at a bunch of threads on blizzard forums and there is a main one that directly addresses the issue with 13th and 14th gen intell cpus.

So I now have TWO chips that suffer from this. 14900K and a 13900K. this is ridiculous. I paid $551.99 for the 13900K and $583.14 for the 14900K. I'm not a rich person, it took me YEARS to save up for my dream setup, all for it to be this? this is what I get? this is what we all get? Unacceptable. I can't even attempt to do an RMA, how am I supposed to be completely out of TWO computers for who knows how long until I get told that they'll accept the return or not. How about just send replacements? I don't need some other person to verify what I already know, my chips are bad, crashes, constantly. I feel bad because I initially blamed Corsair for this, I thought for sure it was faulty RAM right? I was wrong, I even had them send me replacement RAM (which they did with hardly any questions asked, AND SENT THE RAM FIRST WITHOUT ME PAYING, you know, the way a company should treat their customers) Boy was I WRONG to choose Intel.

Even after being replaced, this generation of products is still substandard, and Intel dared to sell substandard products. After being discovered with product quality defects, they still refused to recall the products. This shows that the conscience of this company has been badly damaged.

I've got an i9-14900k, and as of recently all my games crash with a pop-up error of not enough vram, etc. Occasionally blue screen, this only started happening the last couple months. My cpu never reaches above 44-55C so there is no possible way for heat damage. But based off everything I have seen, intel majorly screwed up with 13 and 14th gen cpus and they're effectively killing themselves

If you run Nvidia gpu, installing Nvidia drivers gives 7zip crc error when faulty core is enabled. I used that to narrow down my CPU to P-Core 4 that was faulty.
You should open a case with Intel support to rma your CPU regardless of your findings. Good luck.

I just got this error (Video Memory) when starting up Marvel Rivals. I clicked on the links that sent me here.
I have a 14900K processor. I believe I have the important updates from MSI, but I don't know how to confirm. Please advise me in any way that'll help with this situation.
Best regards,
David

Restart PC and keep spamming the DEL key until you're in BIOS. Check somewhere about BIOS version and date and report results back.
"I believe" is not enough. You and we have to know if you have the important microcode version or not.

Hi Dave,
I have bad news for you. Since you got the error this means that one of your cores is already faulty and you need to RMA your CPU for replacement. It doesn't matter if you have the right microcode.
There are ways of identifying which core is faulty by trying to recreate condition when the error occurred and systematically disabling cores in BIOS until you find which core is throwing the error.
Good luck.

Hi,
I'm quite unfamiliar with the depths of computers so I have very little to no knowledge of the depths that has been spoken about within this forum
I have a i9-14900kf, and I too experience a lot of crashes and bluescreens while playing games and during other activites.
Unfortunately I do not understand all the lingo that is being said in this chat.
What can I do, and has there been a fix here?

You can open a case with Intel Support people and describe your problem to them and see if they can guide you through a process of identifying whether your issues is indeed related to what is being discussed in this thread.
Alternative, you could take your machine into a reputable computer repair shop for diagnostics.
If you feeling adventurous you could also look at videos by GamersNexus on YouTube where he talks about the issue in detail, however, you will need to contact Intel support regardless to establish if they need you to send your CPU in or you have another issue.

For anyone who is experiencing various instabilities related to 13th/14th generation processors, this is a workaround that can help reduce various instabilities:
TLDR: Disable Intel Turbo Boost in your BIOS. This will be different depending on your Mobo (ASUS/MSI/etc...). Do a google/gemini/chatgpt-4 search.
Outcome: Significantly reduces the clock speed from like 5x to 3x Ghz. This can cause performance issues under large load (TBH, I haven't noticed when gaming but I'm sure it would be noticeable in benchmarks).
Context:
I spent a while messing with CPU voltages trying to stabilize my CPU. I did have some luck but it wasn't long until another application caused a BSOD or some application crash, often in the form of page-faults. Ultimately, I decided to reduce my core-ratio gradually and then eventually simplified this solution to just turn off turbo-boost. If you want to increase the performance, you'll most likely be spending hours behind a bios screen tweaking things (unless you're a pro - and if this is the case, then please make a YouTube video and link here for instructions).
Hope this helps anyone.
Best
Justin
