System Details:
Lenovo Thinkpad L14 Gen 5
Ultra 5 125H
16GB RAM 5600 MHz DDR4, 512GB SSD
Battery Capacity 57W
Windows 11
System is drawing lots of power even at idle or very light web browsing. Even at 5% CPU usage (from Task Manager), power draw is 12-16W range. As I check Ultra Processors are meant to be more efficient in terms of battery. Pls help. Kindly let me know what other details/data you need to check up on the issue.

Hello Avinash_b,
In our ongoing investigation into the power consumption issue, it's vital to recognize that the processor's base power specification is 28W. To address this matter effectively, I suggest the following steps:
- Check for Background Processes: Utilize the Task Manager to identify any unexpected or resource-intensive background processes that may be contributing to the power consumption.
- Update Drivers: Ensure all drivers, particularly chipset and graphics drivers, are up to date to prevent inefficient power usage.
- Review Power Settings: Confirm that your Windows 11 power settings are configured for efficiency.
- Battery Health: Assess the battery's health, as a deteriorating battery can impact power consumption.
- Run System Scan: Conduct a malware scan to detect any malicious software that could be causing excessive power usage.
Hardware Inspection: If feasible, inspect the hardware for defects that could lead to increased power consumption.
If these steps fail to resolve the issue, gather the following information:
- Identify the specific applications or activities causing high power consumption.
- Check for signs of system overheating.
- Note any recent software or hardware updates or changes.
- Provide details on the application used to monitor power usage.
- Submit SSU logs for a detailed understanding of the computer's specifications.
- Additionally, please be aware that if the laptop is OEM-manufactured, our support may be limited. Contacting the manufacturer directly might yield more comprehensive assistance.
For further details, refer to our Thermal Design Power (TDP) documentation for Intel® Processors.

Hi Ryan,
Its brand new PC (2 weeks old), up to date for windows as well as cheapest. Battery at efficient and battery saver always on. Further have disabled any startup processes and background processes for apps in Apps - Installed Apps - Background processes. Did a scan with Windows defender, no threats discovered. Battery at good health.
I am using Lenovo Vantage and HwInfo64 to check battery health and power usage.
I am attaching SSU logs.

Hello Avinash_b,,
Thank you for waiting for our response. Based on our investigation, the power draw your CPU has is well within the range of low usage. However, this claim is based on the processes and design of the device. Even in an idle state, the processor is still running tasks.
Processor Base Power: 28 W
Maximum Turbo Power: 115 W
Minimum Assured Power: 20 W
We highly suggest that you reach out to your device manufacturer to inquire about their measured power usage in an idle state for this device model. Here's their contact link for your reference.
As the final resolution or claim will be provided by Lenovo, we will no longer monitor this thread. You may open another inquiry in case you have further help needed from Intel.
Best regards,
Francis Ryan P.
