i3-3220: Intel CPU ID says "No" for Virtualization and Second Level Address Translation. Same thing with CPU-Z. But Windows 10 lets me create and run VMs. What gives?

I bought a second hand HP Elite 8300 SFF desktop that has a Core i3-3220 CPU.

Virtualization is enabled in the BIOS.

Hello howardg,

Thank you for joining the Intel communities.

This processor supports the Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) and the Intel® VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT), these are features that you can enable or disable in the BIOS, however, it depends from your system manufacturer if they designed the your system to have that or no enabled in the BIOS.

It is possible that since this is an OEM system the Intel® Processor Identification Utility it not reading the information from the BIOS that is detected from the processor but this processor support the virtualization mentioned above.

Regards!

Ivan
