I need help with my CPU because im not sure what to do anymore. I have a Triton 300 SE laptop with a i7-12700H and i notice it overheats very badly when playing more demanding games, reaching up to 98C, resulting in very poor FPS in game and even crashes at times. I've tried using a cooler pad with elevation and turning the fans all the way up to no avail, and my laptop isn't dusty nor old. I tried undervolting the CPU as well but thats apparently not an option with 12th gen CPUs, so im at a loss here. Other than replacing the thermal paste (which theoretically shouldn't be needed for a laptop this new? its barely a year old) idk what to do to anymore. Any help?

Hello perineur,
Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.
We would like to know more about your system details to fully understand where the issue truly lies. Please confirm if this is the actual system device that you have. Which game(s) is getting high temperatures? Additionally, we highly appreciate you sharing your system configuration so we can fully check and provide you with an accurate fix. This could be possible by downloading Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* software. When the download is complete, launch SSU.exe.
- Scan: Check the box Everything.

I've attached the info you asked. My laptop is a older version of the one you linked, main difference being the GPU and RAM: My system has a RTX 3060 and 16gbs of RAM. This issue happens mostly on Helldivers 2, though temps have gotten high when playing Elden Ring as well, the difference being that in the latter using turbo mode or turning up the fan speed stops any performance issues, while in Helldivers 2 nothing i do works. I've also noticed this problem with Armored Core 6, which did crash at times seemingly because of the temps, though like Elden Ring that was easily solved by using Turbo mode/higher speed fans.
Really, the problem mostly happens in Helldivers 2 as i said, where even with turbo mode/max fan speed the heat still gets very high and performance tanks as a result. I've tried using Intel XTU to try and adjust the voltage settings for turbo mode (PL1, PL2, that sort of stuff) though i've since reseted all values to what they were before. IIRC preset values were 115W for PL2, 35W for PL1 and 56s of turbo boost power time window. Also, its worth saying that although 35W is the PL1 preset the app itself says 65W is the default. I've also noticed that the performance drops start at around 90ish degrees

Also, a small addon: My default PL1 value seems to actually be 100W, since thats what the value went to after resetting the computer's defaults in the BIOS, plus if the value is lower than that (like the 35W i mentioned earlier) none of my games are able to reach their normal performances. For now i have PL1 set to 100W and PL2 to 115W, which provides good performance without heating up too much (i haven't tested Helldivers 2 with this yet, but Elden Ring manages to maintain 85ish degrees most of the time, going up to 90ish at most with max fan speed)

Hi perineur,
Getting high temperatures while gaming is a normal behavior especially if you are playing a high-CPU-demand game. However, you may try some recommended steps that may help improve the FPS drop due to getting high temperatures. We highly recommend getting the drivers and firmware updates from your system manufacturer support team, as they are the best drivers to install. *You may still try our latest generic driver from this link (version 31.0.101.5590) for the Intel®Iris® Xe Graphics and get the driver directly from NVidia for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. Additionally, can you tell which distribution service (e.g. Steam) is the game from?
