Hi,
I bought a sealed i7 3930K cpu from a webshop. After opening it and when i hold the bottom of the cpu to the light i see that one area near 1 side of the cpu has a darker gold color than the other areas. Normally it looks golden yellow everywhere from any angle, but this area is darker gold. Is this normal? I tried to look from other views on the other areas but only this same spot looks darker gold. I hope to hear if my cpu is okay.
I have tried it on an Asus P9X79 PRO motherboard and it boots, but i got random purple screens in Windows 7 due to my MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II OC videocard not seated well in the pci-e 16x slot (i think)...the SATA 3 port is blocking the card to be seated well.
Random purple screen:
White SATA 3 port blocking the card from fully insertion.

I do not think the change in gold color on the processor contacts would cause any issue at all, but I would suggest testing this processor on a motherboard that is fully supported and that does not have the random purple screens.
