It depends on your motherboard. If you have Pentium M 740 in BGA package then you won't be able to upgrade it. Pentium M 740 in PGA package can likely be upgraded to Pentium M780 (2.26 GHz) or Pentium M 770 (2.13 GHz), both in PGA package. Contact your laptop manufacturer to confirm the upgrade.
