I've downloaded the Nios2-Linux-1.4 to install the uclinux. After installation, No Error infomation but I could NOT find Micotronix Linux Project template option in "new wizard"--only altera NIos II, C, CVS, simple,in the NiosII IDE.
I reinstalled the Nios II5.0 Evaluation Edition as full installation (with "verilog examples")many times, but the problem still exists. My installation procedures are below, 1) Install Quartus II 5.0, restart PC 2) Install NIOS II 5.0 Evaluation Edition with Full components, restart PC 3) Install Microtronix Linux 1.4, restart PC 4) start NIOS IDE.but the Microtronics option is not appearing in Nios II IDE-> New Projects At last, I still can't find the Micotronix Linux Project in the NiosII IDE.It seems there is no impact to the NIOS IDE which works well. The envionment is WindowXP, Quartus II 5.0 with SP2, Nios II 5.0 Evaluation Edition. Additionally the envionment :Window2000, Quartus II 5.0 with SP4, Nios II 5.0 Evaluation Edition doesn't work either. http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gifLink Copied

Hello,
I hope this answer will help. please, do not begin by re-installing the os and everything ! First, please note that the NIOS II IDE is, in fact, eclipse with a carefully tuned set of selected plug-ins. The problem you found is quite common. It stands less chances to happen if you install everything you need (Quartus II 5.0, NIOS II 5.0 Evaluation Edition with Full components, Microtronix Linux1.4) without starting any of the applications in between (hold your curiosity!). There is no guarantee, though. How to fix: ( does not break any configuration or existing projects ) 1. open a "command prompt" (or Start -> Run, enter "cmd" and click "Run") 2. change directory to where you installed the NIOS II, subdirectory "bin\eclipse". In my case, this means "E:\Altera\Kits\NIOSII\bin\eclipse\" 3. run Eclipse (which is called "nios2-ide.exe " here) in "clean" mode ("nios2-ide.exe -clean"). 4. enter the location of your workspace, allow the program to start, and check that you can see the Mocrotronix options under "New". Go: New -> Other and expand the Linux tree. 5. close the IDE and the command prompt window. C:\<some directory>\> E:\ (step 2)
E:\> cd Altera\Kits\NIOSII\bin\eclipse
E:\Altera\Kits\NIOSII\bin\eclipse\> nios2-ide.exe -clean (step 3)
That should do it. Next, you can open the NIOS IDE normally (from the Quartus IDE, or from the Windows Start menu) and there shouldn't be any (more) problems. Good luck, Daniel

There was an eclipse.exe in the directory but the -clean didn't have any effect. Am I doing something wrong. Also, just to be clear, I am using the IDE that came with the Altera Nios II Evaluation Board if that makes a difference. Thanks, Wade

Wade,
Please, try to install the latest downloadable versions of every component of the Altera development environment: Quartus II 5.0, NIOS II 5.0 Evaluation Edition with Full components and Microtronix Linux1.4. Explanation (rather long and convoluted - you may want to skip it :-) Yes, using the IDE that came with the Eval. Board might be a bit of a problem. I noticed the Altera CD contained the whole development environment, but the versions of almost every piece of software were quite... antique! Now, most posts you have seen on this forum refer the the last version of the Microtronix tools, which are all Eclipse plugins. The Eclipse version (renamed in the latest incarnation to "nios2-ide.exe") that all of us have been using is 3.0. And the plugins (tools) work, which means they are compiled for that version of Eclipse. When you have worked long enough in Eclipse (doing whatever - Eclipse is, mainly, used for J2EE developmnet) you learn that it is very important that the plugins are compiled for your specific Eclipse version. Daniel
