Nios® II EDS WSL and Ubuntu versions

Hello, in the Intel® FPGA Software Installation and Licensing we need to install WSL 1 and Ubuntu 18.04 : https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683472/21-4/installing-windows-subsystem-for-linux.html

WSL 1 is old and Ubuntu 18.04 will no longer be supported in April 2023!

Do you know if this will be upgraded to support WSL 2 and at least Ubuntu 20.04 (22.04 ?)

Thanks

Eric

Hi,

As of today, we have no update regarding the future support to switch to WSL 2 nor Ubuntu 20.04.

We do recommend users to use Linux environment for better future experience.

Hi, thank you for the answer.

Another solution could be to use NIOS V instead of NIOS II. Could NIOS V be implemented on DE10-Lite card ?

Hi, did you try wsl version 1 with Ubuntu 20.04 lts? The Nios II EDS runs fine at my machine with this Ubuntu version.  I think the new Nios V is only supported by the Quartus Prime Pro version.

About NIOS V, you are right it is only supported by the pro version which is not available for MAX10.
