On page 1-5 of the Nios II Gen2 Software Developer's Handbook, I see "Note: The Nios II with MMU design is intended to demonstrate Linux. This design does not work with the SBT, because the SBT does not support the Nios II MMU." Does this mean I cannot use the SBT (or the EDS) if I use Linux on my Nios II? I'd appreciate any clarification. Thanks!

The note is referring to the fact that neither the Altera HAL software nor the compiler (GCC) are configured to support NIOS w/MMU. See http://rocketboards.org/foswiki/view/documentation/niosiilinuxusermanual

I still don't follow what this means for using the SBT and EDS in Linux (with MMU). More help, please.

SBT and EDS do not support NIOS with MMU.

SBT and EDS do not support generation of NIOS Linux executables.
