can i transplant a Java Virtual Machine on a Nios,or a board of Altera?

if we could,we can use the abundant software resources of Java,

such as making the Nios a Proxy Server,or a simple mail receiver and sender, and you name it...

but i know the biggest obstacle of my idea is the monolithic mass of JVM,

can a JVM be driven by a puny Nios cpu? http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

if you have some more crazy ideas, you can continue the topic, i 'll be extremely happy to

hear your ideas!!! http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

i don't know if YOU can http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif , but it is possible for shure....

have a look at http://www.ibutton.com/tini/ (http://www.ibutton.com/tini/) - they did a java machine with a 8051 cpu, so it should be possible with a nios....

thanks Stonie!

i saw the linking you gave me,but it seems it's an introduction to a product of that company.

now the group of mine is trying to figure out how to implement the "Java-On-Chip" based on a board

from Altera .so we will search for more details of implementation of this idea.

if you're interested in the topic,we can continue put on the information we found on the net.

thanks! http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Yep that's what I found (different site but same technology).

But there's something about running and embedded system and java that just doesn't jive with me hehe. For what you are attempting it would be fine though.

I'll stick to C and assembly http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
