instruction trace for linux application with ds-5

I want to perform instruction trace of a linux application . I have a DE1-SOC board that is running a precompiled linux image. I want to use DS-5 to perform the tracing but this only seems to be available for bare-metal and kernel targets.  

 

Is this true or is it possible to perform instruction trace for linux applications. If so can you point me in the rigth direction?
