Excuse me if I this is a dumb question I am brand new at trying to use the NIOS II SBT. I am running Quartus Prime 17 on Windows 10 and keep getting an error when trying to open the software build tools for NIOS II. I did not know if this was because it was on windows 10. https://www.altera.com/support/support-resources/download/os-support.html
It was working the other day though, and I have tried multiple times to uninstall and re download Quartus. I found a workaround to open it by running the eclipse-nios2.exe file which then opens this (shown in the attached image) up. I don't want to continue my work for no reason. Thanks for any helpLink Copied

I suspect you are using the standard tools. According to this page the Nios II EDS for 17.0 and 17.1 are only supported with ACDS pro:
http://dl-test.altera.com/requirements/17.1/ http://dl-test.altera.com/requirements/17.0/ To open eclipse-nios2.exe from the command line make sure to do that with the Nios II command shell since that sets up your environment. The screenshot above looks like a plain Windows command menu so you are missing the environment setup steps. The Nios II command shell is Cygwin based so when you use it you should see paths like cygdrive/c/etc......- Mark as New

I actually figured out my whole issue, I was not running the proper executable for Nios becuase my antivirus kept deleting some of the files because it was being flagged and deleted without notification, as a virus. This thread can be removed if at all possible. Otherwise anyone who may have problems locating files, the problem may be your advanced threat detection setting if you have bitdefender.

You wouldn't happen to remember which files were being deleted by any chance? I don't use bitdefender but I'm guessing it has a history of files flagged.
