Hi,
I am experimenting with a Nios-II for study/hobby purposes. I was fortunate to receive a home-brew Cyclone development board from a former employer. I am working now with the time-limited version of Nios-II. I wonder if I could get a free Nios-II license, since I am loading this processor design into an Altera Cyclone FPGA. However, I get the idea that one only gets a Nios-II license when purchasing an Altera development kit. Is that a correct understanding ? Regards, Roland Vossen.Link Copied

If it is for educational purposes you may want to look into the University program offered by Altera. The university I went to was outfitted with Cyclone/Stratix boards and software (most likely for free). So I recommend talking to your school to see if they can set something up for you (they may find it to their advantage too).
