Nios II perspective missing in eclipse on Windows 7 with 10.1

I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit) and have installed Nios II SBT 10.1sp1 and Quartus 10.1sp1.

Quartus seems to be pretty good, much better than 10.0;

However, Eclipse does not load the Nios II tool / plugin / perspective (or what other name it might have).

It's strange because when I first installed it - it was there but did not work correctley.

I tried some of the old tricks that were required to get version 9.x working under Win 7 (like changing the compadatibility property of eclipsec-nios2 executable). Nothing works.

According to the Altera website Quartus and NiosII 10.1 is supported on:

Microsoft Windows XP / Vista / 7 (32 and 64 bit)

If I'm am having trouble with it, perhaps someone else is....

Have you tried running Eclipse with "Run As Administrator" option?

Yes, I've set the eclipse executables in the bin directory to XP compatible mode with the Administrator option - does not work on this machine.

Luckily I run XP 64 on another machine - else my work would come to a halt.....

I have not found any posts on this issue with 10.1 tools, so perhaps there is something stange about my computer setup, although it is a new OS install with very few applications.

Has anyone else had problems like this - or am I alone...?

Thanks pantxoa,

Removing the nios directory before re-installation has worked - the Nios tools are back!

Now, I just need to use it for a while to ensure it is working correctly.

I had looked at the errata sheet, but it was an older one.

I guess I need to keep more up-to-date!

Thanks again.
