Hello @BocxoD

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

Our support is only provided in English. We may not be able to translate screenshots attached to the thread. To better assist you, we use a translation tool.

Regarding your questions, please review the following information and recommendations:

For Question # 1- How to reduce the temperature?

Speaking about overheating issues on processors, for OEM systems (Original Equipment Manufacturers) such as ASUS*, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer for proper assistance since they are the ones that handle all the technical details of your system.

However, here are some recommendations that you may review and try:

1- See if anything has changed around the system. Undo any recent changes that might have caused the overheating problem.

2- Check to make sure that the intake vents and exhaust vents are clear of dust and lint and nothing is blocking proper airflow.

3- Make sure your system is up to date (Windows updates, drivers, and software updates).

4- Try to load the default BIOS settings in your system. Note: You may wish to note the current BIOS settings before resetting the BIOS.

5- Check with ASUS* if a BIOS update is available and if they recommend updating the BIOS.

6- Test the processor with the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool. You can download the proper version (32 or 64 bit) from the below link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool

The purpose of the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool is to verify the functionality of an Intel® microprocessor.

Notes:

  • If you use third-party software to measure the temperature or the BIOS readings, contact the software vendor to ensure the software is validated to work with your processor.
  • For the overheating issues with the discrete GPU (Nvidia*), we recommend checking this further with your OEM for proper assistance.
  • In the following link*, you may find ASUS* drivers and BIOS updates for your laptop: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/GL504GM/HelpDesk_BIOS/

For Question # 2 - why is it not possible to reduce the voltage in the bios?

We recommend using the system with the default settings in the BIOS recommended by the computer manufacturer (OEM). Also, for Mobile processors, we recommend confirming with the laptop manufacturer regarding availability, possibility, and support for features or options to perform changes on their BIOS including altering clock frequencies or voltage. Every OEM may design the BIOS with specific features or limitations. You OEM is the one that is familiar with their BIOS design and features and the best channel of support, in this case, is Asus*.

It is worth mentioning that altering clock frequency and/or voltage may reduce system stability and useful life of the system and processor; cause the processor and other system components to fail; cause reductions in system performance; cause additional heat or other damage, and affect system data integrity. Intel has not tested, and does not warranty, the operation of the processor beyond its specifications

Finally, we would like to mention that the throttle temperature can vary depending on the processor, BIOS settings, thermal solution, and overall system integration and design. If the processor is unable to maintain a safe operating temperature through throttling actions we highly recommend checking this further with ASUS* support team so they may provide additional debugging and diagnostic from their end.

On a side note:

Intel XTU is a Windows*-based performance-tuning software that enables novice and experienced enthusiasts to overclock, monitor, and stress a system. Intel XTU may or may not work on unsupported processors and the Intel® Core™ i5-8300H Processor is not supported by Intel® XTU. The list of the supported processors is located on the Intel® XTU download site.

Hello BocxoD

Thank you for your response.

We understand that the behavior persists and your processor warms even from the first turn on.

If the issue still persists after trying all the previous recommendations and considering Intel® XTU is not supported on your processor at this point our recommendation is to contact your laptop manufacturer ASUS* for further assistance.

They may provide you with any other valid tool or instructions in order to change BIOS/CPU parameters (if possible), as well they can assist you with additional debugging and support with the overheating issue and even check warranty availability if needed. In addition, your laptop manufacturer is also the best channel of support for the problem with the cursor.

Having said that, we will proceed to close this thread now. Communications with community peers may continue in case they have additional suggestions but if you need any additional information, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer being monitored.

It has been a pleasure to assist you.
