Hi all,
Thanks in advance for any and all support.
I have a Intel 13900k and an ASRock z790 Taichi. I also have 4 x Dominator 64GB DDR5 6000 MHz (XMP is not enabled in BIOS).
Looking in "HWInfo" and "Core Temp" the TJ. Max is reported as 115 degrees Celsius (see screen shots). When running some stress testing, the CPU does not seem to throttle when reaching and surpassing 100 degrees Celsius (see screen shots).
I am a little concerned as i get the impression from the internet that this value is more commonly reported as 100 degrees Celsius . I have not changed any settings in the BIOS.
Can i please confirm:
- Am i interpreting the information correctly?
- Is this normal to have TJ. Max set to 115 degrees Celsius? If not, could you please tell me what to do?
Thanks in advance!

Hello jhebus,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.
I am sorry you are having issues with your Intel® Core™ i9-13900K Processor, I will be glad to assist.
Please perform the following steps:
- Check what is the temperature showed in Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/29183/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html?wapkw=xtu) when performing a stress test. You can perform the stress test by going to the Stress Test tab. I recommend running the test for 30 minutes to establish solid stability, and to provide some insight into the temperatures of the CPU under load. This is a solid method for testing cooling solution.
- Verify if the memory modules are actually running at 6000 MHz, this could be causing the processor to overclock as the specifications for memory are up to DDR5 5600 MT/s (2800 MHz).
- Test the processor by running the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/15951/19792/intel-processor-diagnostic-tool.html?).
Let me know of the outcome.
Best regards,
Steven G.

Thanks for the support and suggestions. Turns out updating the bios fixed the issue.
