I immediately examined the contents of the package and everything was perfect and undamaged. Due to other commitments, I did not get around to installing the new Intel processor until a few days ago. I finally had time to turn on my computer today, September 2, 2024.
As is always the case with a new CPU, I immediately went into the UEFI BIOS on my ASUS Z790 Extreme motherboard. Upon seeing the information screen that presents info about the CPU, it shows an Intel Celeron G6900 instead of a 14900KS.
Quick research shows it appears this is a common scam called "delid" in which someone - somewhere, took the original IHS, glued it onto another (presumably genuine Intel CPU). The processor looked genuine upon inspection before installation. Clearly it is not genuine, 100% confirmed. I am seeking help in resolving this issue with B&H. They are the business that sold me the processor regardless of what happened somewhere outside my control, they sold me this fake CPU. I am not a celebrity, or have a large social media following, so it will be very difficult for me as an individual to get resolution from this company that will simply stone-wall me without help.
If Intel has a fraud department or if someone could reach out to me, would be greatly appreciated.

There should be a clear chain of custody here. Was the package sealed when you got it? Did you order something that was open box? That doesn't sound like open-box price.

If the CPU was bought using PayPal and the retailer is unwilling to refund the purchase price a case can be taken up with PayPal. The facts and evidence just need to be put to PayPal. PayPal buyer protection extends to 180 days so a claim may still be possible.

It was brand new - sealed in the box, as shown in the attached pics of my original post. After investigation and reviewing my evidence, PayPal refunded all my money. New York's Attorney General also helped me. I also filed reports with the FBI and New York police organize crime department.
I was able to successfully purchase a genuine 14900KS from an SI company I bought my computer from. As a bonus they only sell to you if you purchased a system through them, so I knew I would not be getting scammed but it cost me $950.
Despite all my troubles, it degraded just like my previous 13900KS. Both processors failed for exactly the reason Intel posted they would using my mobo's OC profiles. And I will not be filing warranty claims on both CPU's because this is the risk one takes when overclocking.
I'm just waiting for more Arrow Lake CPUs to be back in stock so I can put in my new motherboard and get stability! I won't be overclocking it either! At least not for a year until others confirm no degradation. I digress.
