6700k BSOD 0x00000124

Hello everyone. I have a 6700k. Has worked beautifully for the last 14 months. Recently started getting BSOD uncorrectable error 0x00000124. The only way to avoid this BSOD is to dramatically reduce multiplier in my bios top around x34 in my bios.

HWINFO shows CPU Cache L0 errors.

Event viewer is showing "Error The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xffffe306c0000028, 0x00000000f61fb800, 0x0000000000040150). "

Details on this Bugcheck are as follows,

Have you run the Intel Processor Diagnostic tool? If not, download it and run it. You can download it form here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool Download Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool.

I Have run this. The problem I have is that if CPU is at default multiplier then I get BSOD as computer logs in.... So in order to be able to run test I have to set multiplier to 34, to which it fails the test on the frequency check part as its only running x34 multiplier but i cannot load my computer at x40.

Alright, sounds like the issue is most likely in the processor. Providing it is still under warranty (check here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/services/000006303.html?wapkw=warranty+check Determine if Your Product Is Still Under Warranty), you should directly contact Intel Customer Support (ICS) to set up a RMA replacement. Here are pages that provide ICS contact information, by geography:

You can also try using the http://intelsupportchat.force.com/icslivechat/ics_tech_desktop_ww_english_Chat Intel Customer Support Chat Service, but understand that this is offered in English only and availability is subject to normal office working hours (M-F 9-5 in the Pacific Time Zone).

Hope this helps,

I was also thinking probably processor. The only issue is I de-lidded it when I bought it to change the default paste. Im assuming its now void of warranty?

Thank you for your responses

Alas, yes, you voided the warranty by doing this.

This is usually heat related, defective hardware, memory or even processor though it is "possible"

that it is driver related using multip[le antivirus program. Remove ALL power and reseat all cards, memory and cables (on

both ends).
