9700k Voltage Question

Please see the screenshot below taken from Intel ETU. I began investigating after noticing my CPU temps were climbing into the mid-80's while gaming at times. I have completely stock settings. Using HWMonitor, I'm seeing that under load I'm getting a max of around 1.36 V to 1.38 V (depending on core) to my CPU. For a stock 9700k, this seems extremely high to me.

Is this normal?

I'm using an ASUS TUF Z390-Plus mobo, for whatever it's worth. MCE is disabled.

Hello Austin5334,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

The voltages supported for the Intel® Core™ i7-9700K Processor are from 0-1.52 V, you can check that in the Datasheet, section 7.2.1.1 Vcc DC Specifications.

Since you mentioned you are having some overheating issues, please provide the following:

1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) and attach the report generated:

  • Open the application, check the "Everything" box, and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View".
  • Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".
  • Use the paperclip icon to attach the report to the thread. Please note that only one file can be attached at a time.

2. Run the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool and send the results either in a screenshot or .txt file. To save the report, once the test is done, click on "File >> View Results File" and attach the .txt file to your reply.

3. Run the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) and send us a screenshot of the frequencies and temperatures while running a stress test of this tool.

4. Please include additionally the brand and model number of your Cooling Solution and Power Supply Unit (PSU).

5. Are these mid-80's temps only while gamming? Or is it also in simple tasks/idle? Please explain.

Regards,
