Hi all,

We are using IO Margin Tool for PCIe signal measurement. It works on PEG interfance, but fails on PCIe-PCH interface.

The debug information is

• Platform Name/SKU

Processor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K

BaseBoard: ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z690 HERO

BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 1403, 3/30/2022

• Tool version number
ADL_S_IOMT_1_0_26_PV_Release

• Share “msinfo32” file listing the OS and other driver information.

• Installation log

• Result File logs

• Intel PSS log

Please see attached files.

• In case you see detecting issues, send these additional log.

No such logs.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Albert,

Thanks for your reply.

We tested on GIGABYTE Z690 AERO D motherboard, the PCIe-PCH interface worked well. (The PCIe slot conforms to PCIe 3.0 standard)

Compare with ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z690 HERO motherboard, the PCIe slot conforms to PCIe 4.0 standard.

Maybe the problem is about the Z690 at PCIe 4.0 ? Hope this information can help.

BTW, the endpoint device conforms to PCIe 4.0 standard.

Looking forward to your response.

Best Regards,

KL

Hi kl_chu, You are very welcome, thank you very much for providing those details.

"Maybe the problem is about the Z690 at PCIe 4.0 ?", yes, it could be related to that fact. Still, while we are currently working on this matter, we just wanted to confirm, where did you download the Intel® IO Margin Tool from?

Hi,

Can you please let us know whether the PCIe-PCH interface are you able to see any device connected. If Yes please make sure that the device status is in L0 state. Please share the screenshot of the PCIe-PCH interface.

Also check whether device getting detected at PCIe-CPU interface in the IOMT tool.

If issue still exists, Please share the Port number where the device connected and details of the device used.

Hi KL,

Based on the image shared there are devices detected at the Port2, 4, 5, 17, 21. Can you please let me know at which port you are trying to margin the device on PCIe-PCH.  Also please make sure that the device should be at the L0 state. also let us know the details or part number for the device connected.

Hi KL,

Sorry for the late reply.

The issue looks like you are running IOMT test on the Production system. IOMT tool cannot be executed in the production system. It is available to use only in the Pre-production systems.
