C state behavior question

C-state behavior changes when the CPU is idle
When set to C7, it will run at C3

Kindly ask why the CPU cannot go to C3 when the Max CPU C-state(in BIOS) is set to C6 under the same Idle situation? Is it caused by Window Driver, BIOS or other drivers? Thanks

What is the model of the Intel® process?

What is the model of the motherboard?

If this is a laptop, what is the model of it?

Was it working fine before?

When did the issue start?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes that might cause this issue?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

Was it working fine before?

I don't know if this C state behavior works normal as the description above.

When did the issue start?

The issue happened when we modify the <Max CPU C-state> (in BIOS).

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes that might cause this issue?

No recent hardware/software changes.

Hello HWhelp, Thank you very much for providing that information and the SSU report.

 

Accroding to the SSU report, the processor model on your device is Intel® Celeron® Processor N2807.

 

In order to rule out a possible hardware problem with the Intel® processor, please install and run the Intel® Processor Disganotc Tool, it does an overall test on the unit and if it passes the test it means it is working properly:

Also, we can notice on the SSU document, that the Windows* version on your computer is: "Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC". Even though the processor is fully compatible with Windows* 10, the "LTSC" version being used will create limitations since that version only installs security updates which in a overall performance could create the problem with the C-states that you are describing:

It is essential to mention, that when using a mobile device, such as a laptop, everything is customized by the manufacturer of it, in this case, DFI Inc. They can enable/disable BIOS features as well as features and functions of the machine to comply with the functionality they advertised for their products. They also provide all the technical support to their BIOS and its settings which is particularly important in this scenario based on the fact that the problem started after the "Max CPU C-state" was modified in BIOS. 

 

So, what we recommend will be to get in contact directly with DFI Inc support in order to confirm if the latest BIOS version is currently installed on your system or to gather the instructions on how to update it and also, to verify with them if they have further suggestions on this matter:

Since the problem also could be related to Windows* itself, we also advise to get in contact directly with Microsoft Support, so they can confirm if the problem could be related due to the fact that the "LTSC" version is being used and for additional recommendations on this topic:
