CPU (14700kf) overheating/ high initial temps after motherboard replacement

So I had just replaced my asus tuf z790 d4 with a gigabyte z790 eagle to switch from ddr4 to 5 with everything else being the same like the msi mag 360 aio and my 14700kf but once I did the replacement I’ve seen that my initial temps are staying well over 45 degrees and sometimes staying above 50, once I try to put a light load on it it spikes to over 80 degrees, I think it is the cooler but not sure since before with my old motherboard my temps were perfectly fine. Any tips or advice I should be taking into account?

Hello Nick2506,

Ensure that the MSI MAG 360 AIO cooler is properly seated and that the thermal paste is applied correctly, as even a slight misalignment can cause poor thermal contact and higher temperatures. The new motherboard might have different default BIOS settings that affect CPU voltage and power limits, so check the BIOS settings and ensure they are optimized for your CPU. Sometimes, enabling or adjusting settings like Intel's power limits can help. Verify that your case has adequate airflow, as changing the motherboard can slightly alter the internal layout, affecting airflow patterns. Although the MSI MAG 360 AIO is generally a good performer, it's worth checking if the pump and fans are functioning correctly. Ensure there are no blockages or issues with the coolant flow.

I recommend trying the following troubleshooting step in this article to address the thermal issues you've been experiencing:
