Hello all. I have an old pc with specs....
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
4.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. 945GZM-S2 (Socket 775)
512MB ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
Until yesterday i had intel core 2 duo 4400 cpu but a friend of mine gave the 6700 because he doesn't need it. From gigabyte site i saw that 6700 is supported for my motherboard. So i removed 4400 and carefully cleaned my heatsink, intalled 6700, after that thermal paste - connected the cables and turned on the pc. At first i didn't realize any difference but after a while i noticed that it takes longer for the programs to open or surfing online. I used heaven benchmark and my score was way less that before so i said something wrong and i started to read forums. Anyway i installed Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool (64bit) and started the test. No matter how much times i tested it it keeps failing at CPU Frequency Test.
Ps I already disabled EIST (speedstep) but no difference. And i set minimum and maximum power option to 100% but still no luck.
I now that this is an old pc but can't afford to buy new at this point. i will appreciate if you could help me and sorry for my English.

Hello Pakos,
Normally speaking, Intel 945GZ chipset does not support processor with Front Side Bus above 800MT/s. But some mainboard manufacturers broke that limitation. Please refer to http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=2603 GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Socket 775 - Intel 945GZ - GA-945GZM-S2 (rev. 6.6), make sure the PCB version of your mainboard is rev. 6.6 and update your BIOS from F1 to http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-945gzm-s2_6.6_f2.exe F2 to enable it to work well. Failures in updating BIOS might damage your system, so everything is at your own risk.
If your mainboard has a PCB version of http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=2425 2.1 or http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=2467 3.x, this processor, Core 2 Duo http://ark.intel.com/products/27251 E6700, is working under FSB at 800MT/s, so nothing could solve your problem, except overclock the FSB of your mainboard, and that would make your system work unstably. In other words, in this situation E6700 is not supported by your mainboard. So please do not waste your time.
Best Regards,
Aaron Janagewen

Hello Aaron thank you so much for the answer. My PCB version is 3x so it's better to put back on the 4400.
Again thank you
