With the new 14th gen CPU i noticed the size of the CPU is larger than the previous model i used. I went from i7 8700k to i7 14700k and the CPU is much larger. My question is the CPU coolers seem to not have been made larger as well. So I purchased an AIO cooler for the CPU but it looks the same size as my last cooler for the 8700k. Its confusing to me because the AIO coolers come pre pasted as well and the size of the past is for the smaller CPU size. Im just a bit confused what are people doing for cooling, Is it ok to just use that same style even though it looks like its made for the smaller CPU's?
I cant find any information about this as well.

Hello @jetpack007
Thank you for reaching out to the Intel® communities. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your concern.
In addressing the issue of CPU and cooling system compatibility, it's crucial to consider the socket size as a key factor. The 8th generation Intel processors, formerly known as Coffee Lake, utilize the FCLGA1151 socket, while the 14th generation processors, formerly known as RAPTOR LAKE, use the FCLGA1700 socket.
It's important to note that a cooler compatible with 8th gen CPUs may not be compatible with 14th gen processors. Compatibility depends on the cooler manufacturer, and it's your responsibility to verify if the cooler meets the requirements. Some coolers are designed to be compatible with different sockets, so contacting the cooler manufacturer to check specifications is recommended.
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that the thermal paste remains the same for both 8th and 14th gen processors. For further information on the application of thermal paste and its functionality, please refer to the article titled "How to Apply Thermal Paste and How It Works."
