I want to update my CPU from a i7-930 to a xeon CPU. I looked at a web site https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/X58_Express.html which gave me options but It also included some Xeon CPU. looking at the list it noted W3580 but Intel web site does not have that Chip. it also told me my Motherborad was also of the X58 express type. I do not know were I can locate the chipset to ID which CPU I can update to. I also want to find out if I can update to a i7-990x type or equal to W3690 which both support 6 core and are the same settings.
Let me know if there is a site I can look up this mother board and determine the highest CPU I can install Xeon or i7 .
thank you
jon

You need to contact the motherboard manufacturer and ask them what processors are compatible with their bios. Then, you can select from those.
My opinion - I would not bother trying to upgrade a motherboard that is 13-years old.
