Can I run CPU intensive tasks without risk of damaging processor ?

Hi,

I have a recent Core i5-14600KF PC with proper Noctua cooling.

I run it on an Asus board with BIOS "Intel Default settings" loaded.

I read a lot about this issue: https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/June-2024-Guidance-regarding-Intel-Core-13th-and-14th-Gen-K-KF/m-p/1607807 and how some users had their processors damaged because of improper BIOS settings. However, it also states that the root cause of the problem is NOT yet known.

My PC works perfectly on basic desktop business tasks. I have not even tried it on CPU-intensive tasks because I fear damaging the processor, as I use it for important business work.

My question is: are there any risks of damaging the processor when playing games and performing CPU-intensive tasks because of the issue reported in the thread above? Or does using "Intel Default settings" immunize my system against that issue which can damage processors?

Hey @Aldariann i think it is okay to use Intel default setting as it stated in the forum recommendation to us that.

it should be no issue if playing games but to be safe just play with recommended default setting instead of high performance setting.
