Can an E5-2630 v3 be upgraded to an E5-2600 v4 series?

Looking to boost the performance of one of my Dell R730 servers...

It currently houses (2) E5-2630 v3

I'm wondering if I can go with the V4 versions?

You will need to ask dell what processors are supported by their bios. Then, you can select from those processors.

An upgrade processor must be socket, chipset, AND BIOS compatible.

When looking up the specs on Dell's website, they reference V4 Procs... for the R730, but the original has V3.. So I'm wondering if it's a newer model

You must ask dell what their bios supports.

Hello MViox, Hope you are doing fine. As Al Hill mentioned you need to contact Dell in order to ask if their board and BIOS supports the new processor. Please let us know if you have further questions. Regards, Charlie V. Intel Customer Support Technician Under Contract to Intel Corporation
