Changing i5-3317U with a Better Processor

Hello All,

I am kind of a stranger to computer technologies. Therefore I need your expertise. I have an old notebook with uses i5-3317U processor and I am thinking to renew it to improve computer performance.

I have made couple of searches and found that Intel website shows compatible products under my product's details:

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/65707/intel-core-i5-3317u-processor-3m-cache-up-to-2-60-ghz.html

There are several i7 chipsets but not an exact product model name. So, can I change my process with a better one and which processor model should I use?

Thanks in advance.

Before you can do anything, you need to ask the device/motherboard manufacturer which processors are supported by THEIR bios. Then, you can select from those.

An upgrade processor must be socket, chipset, AND BIOS compatible.

However, none of this matters because your existing processor is soldered to the motherboard.
