Core i7 740QM issue on windows 10

My ASUS laptop has Intel core i7 740QM processor (from Intel Processor Identification Utility) and I can't find appropriate driver for the chipset.

why do I need one? because after upgrading to windows 10 from windows 8.1, in device manager there is an error that wasn't there before.

"Base System Device" don't have any driver and windows can't find suitable driver for it.

and I keep getting blue screen error in windows and it gets restarted inevitability.

I used windows 7 for 3 years on this laptop and then windows 8.1 for 4 years and they never had this issue in device manager and the blue screen thing.

I roll back to windows 8.1 and everything is fine but when I install windows 10 on my system it keeps getting this issue.

I searched for issue (Base System Device don't have any driver) and a lot of people solve their issues by installing their intel chipset driver, so I searched for that

and I can't find anything for my Processor.

I used Intel Driver & Support Assistant and it just can't determine my processor and chipset in order to guide me through driver and supports.

I stuck on this issue, please advice me or let me know which driver do I need to install.

Your (Clarksfield) processor is EIGHT years old and is not supported on Windows 10.

https://ark.intel.com/products/49024/Intel-Core-i7-740QM-Processor-6M-cache-1_73-GHz Intel® Core™ i7-740QM Processor (6M cache, 1.73 GHz) Product Specifications

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006105/processors.html Does My Intel® Processor Support Microsoft Windows® 10?

Any information needed about your processor and chipset is already known to Windows 10.

If Asus does not have drivers for Windows 10, then they also will not support your laptop on Windows 10.

Sorry, stay on WIndows 8.1.

Thanks for your answer.

but in some countries like Iran, laptops costs about 6 times our month salary and this is just for me, android/python developer. (I can't imagine how poorer people stay alive and not killing each other)

couldn't anybody develop driver for these legacy processors for new operating systems?

Read my response here: . It's the same issue; it costs a lot of money to validate these solutions and Intel has chosen to not absorb these costs. I know there are many people that, for financial reasons, must make due with older hardware, but lines have to be drawn somewhere - and it isn't going to be 8-10 years (or longer) into the past.

Sorry,

It looks as if someone (ICS?) removed the link that I originally included. This was a post from over a year ago, so I have no idea what other post it was pointing to (and the forum's tools for searching for these old posts are COMPLETELY USELESS!).
