Core i9-10900X machine check exception being thrown

I've been troubleshooting a new build with a Core i9-10900X

I intercepted a kernel panic in linux and decoded a machine check exception with the following output:

Hardware event. This is not a software error. CPU 0 BANK 9 TSC 2bce03940f4 RIP !INEXACT! 10:ffffffffb66ccee5 MISC 207aa600c00086 ADDR fbe00f40 TIME 1591355662 Fri Jun 5 11:14:22 2020 MCG status:RIPV MCIP MCi status: Uncorrected error Error enabled MCi_MISC register valid MCi_ADDR register valid Processor context corrupt MCA: corrected filtering (some unreported errors in same region) Generic CACHE Level-2 Generic Error STATUS be200000000c110a MCGSTATUS 5 CPUID Vendor Intel Family 6 Model 85 Step 7 RIP: mutex_spin_on_owner+0x65/0x0} SOCKET 0 APIC 0 MICROCODE 500012c

I am able to install linux on the machine but experience enormous amounts on input lag through the connected USB peripherals. Occasionally I will observe a TSC firmware log with a kernel panic as well. Any help you could give me in diagnosing whether this is indeed a CPU cache issue, or a BIOS issue or indeed a memory DIMM issue would be greatly appreciated.

Albert,

Many thanks for getting back to me. On changing the motherboard from an MSI X299 Pro to a Gigabyte X299 Aorus Master - the issues are all resolved.

I guess at this point the MSI firmware just wasn't working correctly.

Thank you nevertheless for your help.

James
