I'm using LENOVO ThinkPad T61, LENOVO 7658CTO Board along with original processor T7300 Intel Core 2 Duo ~2.00GHz ~4MB RAM ~SSD 240GB running well but I want to upgrrade the clockspeed performance utilizing T9600 ~2.8GHz processor ( higher series ). Do this community had experience on this particular specification?

But I'm also open to any suggestion if you have best combination of T61 board with other processor series might had or have.

Thank you in advance.

You need to ask Lenovo what processors are compatible with THEIR bios. Then, you can select from those (only if your existing processor is not soldered to the motherboard, which it may be).

An upgrade processor must be socket, chipset, AND BIOS COMPATIBLE.

You can compare the two processors here, just for kicks,

These processors are 12 to 13 years old. Unless you have some special attachment to that laptop, I would take it to the recycle bin, and get a new(er) laptop that is compatible with Windows 10.
