I undervolted my intel core i5-7300 by -90mV in XTU then I ran stress test for 5 minutes after 3 minutes it started showing current limit throtting, and my clock speed went down to 2-2.4 GHz from 3.1 GHz. Then I went back to default voltage by loading the default profile and allowed the computer to cool down by turning it off for few hours but the problem still persists.
And the worse happens while I am gaming, the clock speed goes below 2GHz, and this is happening even after loading default profile in XTU.

Hello, cesal. Thank you very much for contacting the Intel Communities Team. I will be more than happy to assist you.
Firstly, allow me to mention that the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility is intended for unlocked/overclockable processors (cf. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24075/Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-Intel-XTU-?product=6642... Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility download page, valid products section). In addition, since you are using a mobile processor, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of your system could modify some features of the processor as their convenience.
Then, the risk of modifying the processor's base specifications is too great and the results may vary.
If after restoring the setting back to default the issue still persists, please get in touch with the https://support.hp.com/us-en HP* Support so they can help you restore your system back to default.
