DG965LV cpu issue

I have a GatewayGT5238e Media center Edition that was XP originally with a DG965LV motherboard, G965 Express chipset, LGA775 socket for the (current) Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86Ghz processor. I am now running W7 Ultimate 32 bit, but the processor is holding the system back. What is a direct plug-in Core2 or Core Quad processor that I can just insert in LGA775 socket and go?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

We as Intel® provide the hardware to Computer Manufacture and they will design their units including special features or limitations.

My best recommendation is to contact the Computer Manufacture and confirm with them what processors can be used with this motherboard and in that way you can be sure it will fit and work fine.
