Desperate for Assistance PLEASE?

I have a DTK computer with a Intel Pentium II (82443BX) and it is running slow. Microsoft stated I should upgrade the BIOS. I went to the BIOS setup but do not know what the new values are to be to make it run better. Can annyone HELP me PLEASE. I cannot afford to change out the processor or afford a new computer right now.
