Hi,
I am looking for a CPU that is 16 cores+ and support both AVX and AVX2, so I found this Intel core I9-10980XE which support AVX2 and AVX-512.
I don't know much about these terms, and now wondering if I chose this one, does it still be able to handle AVX or need to be other CPU that have both?
Thanks,

Hello Phelix
Thank you for your patience in this matter.
In regards to your questions, we would like to inform you that if you buy a processor that supports AVX2, it is backward compatible with AVX. AVX-512 is also backward compatible with AVX2 and AVX, except that it replaces some of the instructions of the later ones.
Intel® AVX2 extends Intel® AVX by promoting most of the 128-bit SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data) integer instructions with 256-bit numeric processing capabilities. Intel® AVX2 instructions follow the same programming model as AVX instructions.
In addition, AVX2 provides enhanced functionalities for broadcast/permute operations on data elements, vector shift instructions with variable-shift count per data element, and instructions to fetch non-contiguous data elements from memory.
We hope this clarifies your concerns. For any other inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us back.
Best regards,
