Does any PCIe root controller support hot-plug (graceful) or hot-swap (surprise) of PCIe NVME network endpoints, similar to PCIe-based NVME SSD devices?

Hello DMcCl7,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

Can you please let us know more details about your system set up?

  • Just to confirm the PCIe root controller refers to the Root complex?
  • Whats is your processor model?
  • What is the motherboard model?
  • What are the hardware parts that you would like to hot-swap?
  • Are you designing a hardware/software?

Please provide us more details.

Best regards,

Hi Adrian,

Mu target CPU is Ice Lake for enterprise server. Yes, it is the PCIe root complex of Ice Lake I refer. I am designing the server harrdware. I would like to surprise hot-swap mezzanine card(s) of dual x8 PCIe slots in and out of the server, using RH SW stack, with supporting HW on either the server planar or the mezzanine card. Do you have a reference for this design solution?

Cheers,

David
